Synopsis:
Major Hawks receives a request for help from Hollow Creek. Oddly, the plee includes a mention of the Roving Ranger's lack of success in helping the town. When Hawks questions Jeff Graham, he learns that the ranger has never visited Hollow Creek.

Using an assumed name, the Roving Ranger rides to Hollow Creek. On the way he protects some ranchers from the Fargo Gang. When he reaches the sheriff's office, an imposter claiming to be the Roving Ranger convinces the sheriff to arrest Jeff.

Jeff is able to escape the jail cell. He then rallies the ranchers to protect the town from a raid by the Fargo Gang. The phony ranger is then exposed as the gang leader who had been distracting the sheriff which allowed his gang to conduct their raids unmolested by the law.
