Synopsis:
Arak and Satyricus walk into a bar in the port city of Thessalonika seeking to learn the whereabouts of Valda. Arak learns that the town has been haunted by an invisible threat. After an altercation with some soldiers, Arak learns that the invisible creature is a hydra summoned by the tavern keeper Makados to rid the city of the foreign soldiers. He also learns that Valda was taken east as a prisoner.
Arak and his traveling companion head to the docks to gain passage aboard a ship to follow Valda when the hydra attacks. It chases Arak into a church where he uses fire to make it visible. After a fierce battle which causes much destruction, Arak slays the hydra. However, the tavern keeper's daughter is killed by a collapsing wall. Arak then continues his quest to find Valda and Malagigi.
