History:
As a youth, Felix Faust read the story of how his namesake, Faust, had sold his soul to the devil for supernatural powers. From that moment forward, Felix sought to do the same, studying dead languages in Vienna, archaeology in London, and history at the Sorbonne. He visited the ruins of Ur and Lagash in Chaldea, famous for its magicians. He even unearthed a copy of the Necronomicon, the book of black magic written by the made Arab Abdul Alhazred. He studied ancient parchments, old palimpsests, and the clay tablets of long-dead conjurers, all in preparation for a single moment – when he would speak the conjuration that would summon to him the three ancient demons known as Abnegazar, Rath, and Ghast, supremely powerful beings who had been imprisoned beneath the Earth for billions of years by a mysterious race known only as the Timeless Ones. Faust hoped to force the three demons to reveal to him the secret of their supernatural powers. Unfortunately for Faust, certain mystic objects were required to truly free the demons from their spell: the red jar of Calythos, the green beel of Uthool, and the silver wheel of Nyorlath. These objects had been hidden by the Timeless Ones where no normal man could possibly hope to retrieve them.

With the demons' aid, Faust took mystic control of the members of the Justice League of America and used them to recover the three talismen for him. But the Justice League managed to defeat Faust before he could use the bell, jar, and wheel to make himself the most powerful sorcerer in the universe.

Several times over the next years Faust returned always attempting to gain supreme power and always thwarted in his efforts by members of the JLA.

At one point while in prison, during a psychological seminar, Faust experienced a primal scream. In one shrieking instant, all the pent-up frustrations of his life were expelled, and Felix Faust felt reborn. Paroled soon after, Faust became Curator of Special Literature at Star City Public Library, where he came in contact with the secret journal of the ancient sorcerer Nostromus, and found himself possessed by Nostromus's evil spirit. Though Faust managed to free himself from Nostromus's possession with the help of the Justice League, Nostromus's spirit had left its mark, and Felix Faust soon returned to his evil ways.

Powers:
A sub-par athlete and hand-to-hand combatant, Felix Faust is nevertheless a master sorcerer who appears to control vast amounts of natural power affecting organic matter. The exact nature of his powers remains unknown, although it appears that, unlike other, more powerful sorcerers, Faust requires a book of spells to focus his power.
