History:
Doctor Polaris first came to public attention as a physician who brought about miraculous cures through the use of magnetism. However, his own continual exposure to magnetic forces adversely affected his mind, producing a Jekyll-Hyde-style split personality. Polaris became a costumed criminal using weapons that generate magnetic energy, and has clashed repeatedly with Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) over the year. Occasionally Doctor Polaris's benevolent original personality has returned, but his evil side always reemerges and now appears to have become permanently established as dominant.

Originally, Doctor Polaris relied on weaponry to produce magnetic energy. Recently, though, Polaris has somehow altered himself so that he can generate magnetic force within his own body and manipulate it mentally. Doctor Polaris was one of the people recruited by Harbinger to help the Monitor deal with the crisis endangering the multiverse.

Powers:
Doctor Polaris can generate magnetic energy within his body and direct it outward as he desires. Thus he can attract, repel, or levitate anything made of metals that are affected by magnetism. Doctor Polaris can also absorb magnetic energy into his body, although he once nearly destroyed himself by attempting to absorb too much. Doctor Polaris can also use his magnetic powers to fly, to create force fields around himself, and to achieve various other effects.
